Downhill Skiing

Ski Sundown in New Hartford is an easy 12-minute drive from Canton. The ski resort features scenic trails for all levels, making it a great place to go with friends and family for the day. For those looking for other ski mountains in the area, Canton is also a 30-minute drive from Mount Southington Ski Area in Southington and Mohawk Ski Area in Cornwall.

Canton is home to Farmington Valley’s oldest ski and board shop, Fatty’s Snowboards. Fatty’s is a great spot to shop for skis, boards, and gear from many well-known ski and snowboard brands. 

Cross Country Skiing

With a wide selection of trails in the area, there are many cross-country skiing spots to choose from. After enough snow, many people will take to the trails along the Farmington River or trails part of the Canton Land Conservation Trust for some great skiing. Canton is also nearby Stratton Brook State Park, Nepaug State Forest, and Winding Trails — all excellent cross-country skiing destinations
